There are perfectly rational reasons to oppose tariffs without thinking about the economy alone. Inflation costs will hit the average American very hard for the next four years. Trump tariffs on China in the first presidential term cost American consumers $51 billion in increased prices. The financial uncertainty for small to medium business owners will be very tough to weather & the supply chain will be fucked. And keep in mind, businesses will be factoring in the fact that there could be a different president in four years with entirely different trade policy so they will wait this one out as trump is known to flip flop.

Trump can not be trusted and has no economic integrity, the tariffs were quite literally calculated using an LLM. Trump is living in a fantasy. His aluminium and steel tariffs against Canada will cripple the US supply chain and economy. Realistically, Trump would have to cut back half of America’s home electricity consumption to make the aluminium's—50% of US steel & 11% of US aluminium comes from Canada. US car companies will be unsalvageable, unable to produce for a market.

South Korea, Japan and China have already announced a bilateral alliance to combat American tariffs which is historically groundbreaking. If you want to re-industrialise America you have to build thousands of factories to produce industrial goods, you have to get planning permission, you have to get a labour force that is well trained and specialised.

Trump believes this can all be done in two months by increasing the prices of aluminium & steel with tariffs enough to cause the companies to re-locate. It’s absolutely crazy talk and it’s going to cause complete anarchy. In the past, industrialisation plans were conducted over a period of 20 years. Trump is not a long term strategist, he’s a moron.

Nation states and corporations will want to do more business with China & BRICS and less business with the US because China provides a high degree of certainty and the US is just risk. Canada will just sell electricity to China, and America will suffer.

Trump’s budget will be spent on military spending for a war in Iran and to finance Israel’s crusade against Palestine. He doesn’t care about American citizens or American businesses.

The real enemy is not foreign nation states, it’s FIRE (Finance, Insurance, and Real estate). That’s where the real waste/fraud is occurring but those guys are who trump supports.

Yep, the global elites, especially their investment in the FIRE industry are the real problem, I absolutely agree. They are parasites using our country to enrich themselves, so anything that's bad for them will necessarily inflict pain on ordinary Americans as well -- that's how they hold us hostage. America is like a heroin addict screeching because the heroin is being taken away. There is no option for getting out of this mess which will not hurt. The only question is whether the pain will be worth it.
