I had ambitions to release one more episode of Samsara Audio before my newest child arrived, but the personal and professional responsibilities of this past month have finally forced me into submission.
For the time being, Samsara Audio will need to take an indefinite hiatus.
Thank you so much for listening and for including me in your journey. I’ve enjoyed everyone I’ve had on the show, and this experiment has yielded some valuable insight for me about where to take Samsara Diagnostics in the future.
You might also notice that I’ve re-branded this Substack to “Samsara Media” in order to keep the door open to a wider variety of projects in the future. Please subscribe and stay tuned for those when they arise!
Season recap
In case you’ve missed what Samsara Audio has been up to this season, here is a quick recap about what I’ve managed to put out this year to date:
I kicked off the year with a conversation with my friend
(The Natural Theologian) where we contrasted an apologetic method of promoting conversation rather than seeking conversion.I interviewed
about his newest book about Nietzsche and Marxist politics in “Nietzsche and the Politics of Leisure,” where Daniel helped me work through some misgivings I had with some key notions in Leftist political theory.I sat down with Mark Gerard Murphy to discuss his book about Lacan and spiritual direction, a conversation where we explored the possible applications of Lacanian theory to spiritual formation in the Church.
I talked with my friend
in “Christianity, Sacrificial and Shamanic,” a conversation about Cleo’s invaluable work on Mother Mary, Lacan, and the theory of sacrifice, as well as her shamanic work.I capped the season with a highly enjoyable dialogue with my friend Jonatan Anabalon in “Allergic to the Ancients” where we adjudicated some of our theoretical misalignment, exploring Lacan, models of oneness and truth, and the Zen Ox-Herding pictures.
Don’t forget to check out last year’s episodes too, with some awesome conversations, like the one with Dimitri Crooijmans about personalizing Hegel’s metaphysics, or with Quinn Whelehan where we contrast the 3rd century Buddhist philosopher Nagarjuna with Hegel.
(Can you tell that I like Hegel?).
So, what’s next?
As I’m going off the radar for a little while, I’m still committed to keeping the lights on over at my weekly-ish newsletter Samsara Diagnostics. I write there about religion and psychoanalysis, sharing a digestible and original piece to stimulate your own reflection on problems both spiritual and material.
If you follow me here on Substack, but haven’t signed up for Samsara Diagnostics yet, I’d highly encourage you to subscribe. I would consider my work there to be the driving core which keeps me moving forward, reflecting the current state of what I’m thinking about at any single moment.
