Do you think the invention of writing is bad? Sure, every automated solution tends to destroy the previous manual solution, but we ultimately only gain practical freedom, unless you draw a system boundary between the human and technology.

I would say practical freedom doesn't strictly require ontological freedom or even being a dualistic subject / ego, but yeah, as a rule, and certainly on an individual basis this is true. (I think the ego can only be sustainably sublated socially, i.e. by deliberately designing society in a way that doesn't require subjectivity).
